AmeriCorps members have numerous ways to get involved in the Healthy Futures Focus Area. The focus area aims to support community members by providing assistance, prevention and intervention.
Volunteers focused on Healthy Futures help Utahns:
To provide top-notch medical care, AmeriCorps volunteers work through a program called the National Health Corps. It pairs volunteers with health centers to improve access to care for local residents.
Senior Corps RSVP helps provide transportation to medical appointments, health screenings for children and much more. And Senior Companions supports seniors who seek to stay in their own homes.
These initiatives serve Utahns both in urban and rural settings, many volunteer opportunities are plentiful throughout our state. They developed out of the Corporation for National and Community Service’s 2011-15 Strategic Plan, which sought to identify ways volunteers could assist special populations with unmet health needs. You can find toolkits and more valuable information on the initiative here.
